Grilled Chicken Sandwich
As I am sure there are many Chili's restaurants in the town of Knoxville, I want to let you know, I dined at the one on Kingston Pike near the Tomato Head restaurant. That being said, I was almost hit turning into the place so if you do go, please be careful. The parking lot could be arranged better but, just do your best.
I walked in, only to be greeted by a hostess who, although trying to crack a smile, was obviously not that into her job. I walked to my seat and sat down in a booth. After the feeling of being unwanted left me, I turned my attention to the kiosk in the middle of the table. If you have not been to a Chili's establishment before, you will want to check them out for this feature. You can pay, order, or request refills without waiting on your server.
For the youngsters or the easily entertained, they have a gaming feature for only a dollar. So after I paid my dollar and played for a moment, the server came and received my drink order. I was thirsty so I had water. Without asking or letting me know, he brought water with lemon. Not picky friendly but I do like lemon so I wasn't complaining
I ordered the chips and salsa (not pictured) for an appetizer. The dish was out quickly and I began to enjoy. The chips were a crisp tortilla style chip. The salsa wasn't quite your normal Mexican salsa. It has a bite to it, and if you do not like heat, don't over do it. The salsa gets hotter as you eat more. I am very particular on the salsa I eat and, I admit, I ate two baskets of the chips and salsa.
For my dinner I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich without tomato and honey mustard, but with a side of barbecue. I had fries for my side. My order came just as I ordered it. The barbecue sauce is not very good so I wouldn't recommend getting it. I did not apply it to my sandwich. I also recommend no lettuce as well as they put the chicken directly on the lettuce, which made it hot and wilted.
The fries were just what you expect. They do serve Heinz ketchup, which as you know Picky Nation, is the only acceptable ketchup. So to recap, the sandwich was good, the fries were normal, and the service was bad in spots. Overall I believe I will be back and, for that reason, this experience gets a picky 3.9 out of 5.
