Newk's. The name says it all. Or does it? When I first arrived at this establishment, I was immediately turned off by the name. My first reaction was that they must microwave all of the food. Were they going to "Newk" my food? I took a chance anyway.
As I came in the door, I was greeted by a friendly worker who was ready to take my order. I was not ready.
I finally decided on the club and was ready to order. The club was suppose to come with ham, turkey (nitrate free if it matters to you), Applewood bacon, Ammerlander Swiss cheese, aged cheddar cheese, tomatoes, romaine lettuce, mayo, and made from scratch honey mustard. I think too much is going on in this sandwich. I asked for no mayo, no honey mustard, and seriously, tomatoes on sandwiches is so nasty. I was given a choice of sides. Fresh fruit, cole slaw, something I didn't catch because I was uninterested, and chips. Why oh why didn't I just say chips?
I said fruit. Yeah fruit will be delicious. I like fruit. I like all different kinds of fruit. Give me the fruit. I sat down and they brought me my dish. It looks amazing! I took one bite of my sandwich and it was perfect. Now for the fruit. The fresh fruit...... well so I thought. I took one bite of that fruit and immediately thought about how it was probably in the back of the walk in cooler for who knows how long. It was chopped up into little bits as if to cause me not to realize that it was bad.
So just to recap, the sandwich was great, but the fruit was horrible. This place offers picky friendliness, but it seems you never know what the quality might be. For picky friendliness and faulty fruit, I give this meal a 3.5 out of 5.
